Burdette Park holds groundbreaking for playground with wheelchair accessibility
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Vanderburgh County officials broke ground on the first of two new Burdette Park playgrounds this morning.
Officials say the playgrounds with be the county’s first ADA accessible structures, which will offer wheelchair accessibility and an ADA compliant swing.
Vanderburgh County council President Jill Hahn says the playground will be for everyone.
“Every child is going to be able to be put on this playground (even) if they’re in a wheelchair, parents will be able to come out here,” said Hahn. “So, its a completely inclusive opportunity for young children which we don’t have in the county.”
Officials say the park is expected to be completed in October.
