Police: 1 injured in plane crash at Owensboro airport
OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - Authorities confirm that emergency crews were sent in response to a report of a plane crash at Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport on Thursday night.
The Owensboro Police Department says a single-engine plane had a landing gear malfunction.
According to the Daviess County Fire Department, the crash occurred on take-off at around 8:10 p.m.
Officials say three people were on board the plane when the crash happened.
Fire crews say one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. OPD officials say the other two occupants on the plane weren’t hurt.
Officials with the National Transportation Safety Bored say the plane overran the runway when trying to take off.
They say the plane was substantially damaged.
Officials say an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
